Im a guitarist and i plan on joining a speed metal band soon and i might end up doing backing vocals for the band. we are an underground band so we will end up mostly playing gigs for bars on metal mondays not going into a studio and recording an album.
so what i thought about doing is getting a somewhat decent mike and plug it into my amp and have my vocals come out of the amp along with my guitar. Is that a good idea or do i need to buy a whole separate amp for the mic.
Most bars will have a PA system and you can just plug the mic into that.
Thanks man i will most likely end up doing that. I though i had to buy other shit than just a mic and a stand. The only other bands i was in was a Death metal band called cesspool and i played bass for jazz band in high school all i did was just plug in my amp with my pedals into the wall and caused mayhem well for jazz band i had to tie my hair back and be gentle no headbanging or allowed.
my first mic was an SM57, a gift from my girlfriend. that mic does wonders!
MXL V67 now costs $495
Hi Ronan, Have you ever used or heard the Audio Technica AT3035? Any opinions on this mic?
Hello, I’m starting a home recording studio and I have a Mic all picked out, it’s actually the MXL V69 ME, it says it comes with a power supply and my only issue is that I’m not sure how that will hook up to a computer, do I need to get a special converter and if so will that even work? your help would be really appreciated =D
So…. a regular version of Meatloaf
Very useful information. Thank you for your tips and advice.
You need sound card with XLR input
Hi. I am an owner of SPL Channel One (get the used old one for 500$). And looking for some mic to plug it in. How do you compare MXL V67 to the MXL 2003 (i have that one from a friend for testing)
How would you rate a Behringer C-1 microphone?
Great video Ronan! Helped me a lot!
Take a look at the Mackie Blackjack, that would solve your problem, along with some extra goodies.
i just built a home studio and am looking for a new mic. i do rap vocals only and chorus. looking to spend 3- 600 $ what are some choices you recomend? iv been checking out the AKG C 214, shure ksm32, audio technica 4033 cl and the blue baby bottle
soooo SE2200a, Studio Projects B3, AT2020, Rode NTA, all crap in your experience? :S
hi im thinking of getting editors keys SL150 usb mic bundle with the portable vocal booth pro 2 is this a safe mic to buy?
I have not used that mic, but I no not often find condenser mics in that price point I like.
I am not a fan of most cheap condensers, but there are a few that are OK.
I am a big fan of the Shure KSM32, which is in that price range. I did a video about it that is here on youtube called The Shure KSM32: A Love Story
I do not like them at all.
I like the V67 better than the 2003
You need to get some kind of interface to connect audio to your computer, something with a mic pre. The cheapest way to get into the computer would be some kind of usb mic input. I would not expect the best quality but that could get you started.
Not in the US. I just saw them for a bit over $100
